Coach Paul White

As a coach and a mentor, Paul White emphasized academics and personal
conduct in developing the foundation and culture that led to great success
for Glen Rock High School in football, track & field and cross country for years to come.

The Panthers had not been to the Bergen County Relays in seven years when Paul came into the boys track & field program as an assistant. Within three years the Panthers were entered into all events and were soon winning the small schools (Groups 1 & 2) championship. The Glen Rock track culture really came into its own as
Paul partnered with the girls track & field coach and Hall of Fame inductee D.J. Nimphius to effectively combine the programs and train and teach the athletes by event. The girls went on to win seven Group, State Championship titles between 1994 and 2003 and the boys won two Group, State Championships in 2003 and 2004.

The boys and girls cross country programs were struggling when Paul took the reins. The boys had been winless in the preceding season. In his first year, both won their League Meet. In his final season, Glen Rock scored a triple double, with both teams winning League, Group County and Group Sectional titles. Paul also endowed the program by mentoring Stacie Gallo who continues to run the program today.

Paul took control of the football program in the early 90s, collapsing the program into two teams to develop a more stable structure. He campaigned for and raised funds for a rejuvenated weight room, instituted a proper strength and conditioning program and brought more discipline and accountability to the team. By his third year, the varsity team had a successful 8-2 season, with the freshman team also winning 8 games. Paul stepped away for personal reasons at that time and Hall of Fame inductee Alan Deaett took the reins. And the next ten years saw fantastic success, leveraging the foundation put in place by Paul.
